Peak viewers (peak concurrent viewers)

Also called: PCU, Peak concurrents

Definition

Peak viewers is the highest number of people watching a live show at the same moment. It is the standard measure of a show's reach, distinct from total unique viewers who passed through.

Peak usually lands in the first third of a show, after the notification wave and before churn sets in. Platforms with feed-driven discovery, like TikTok, post higher peaks than follow-driven ones like Whatnot, but the peak says nothing about buying intent: a 500-viewer TikTok room can out-sell or under-sell a 90-viewer Whatnot room.
