Combined shipping and shipping cap

Definition

Combined shipping bundles every item a buyer wins in one show into a single shipment, and a shipping cap is the maximum shipping charge a buyer pays no matter how many items they win. Both lower the effective cost of each additional purchase and push buyers to keep bidding.

Buyers who have already paid for shipping treat the next item as cheaper, so a cap turns the first win into a reason to stay. Sellers set the cap where the margin on the extra items outweighs the subsidised postage.
