eBay Live

Definition

eBay Live is eBay's livestream selling format, run through eBay Live Studio, where approved sellers host timed events with auctions and buy-it-now items that settle through eBay's normal checkout. It has its own fee table, separate from standard eBay selling fees.

eBay Live events are short compared with Whatnot shows, often under half an hour, and many are scheduled segments rather than open-ended rooms. Eligibility is application-based and the categories lean toward trading cards, collectibles, sneakers and luxury.

Fees are the point most writers get wrong: eBay Live charges its own commission capped per item, not the standard final value fee.

The number

eBay Live sessions in the Live Selling Index run a fraction of a Whatnot show's length, and a minority end with an observed sale. See this week's figures.
