Net sales (net of fees)

Also called: Net proceeds, Take-home

Definition

Net sales is what a seller actually receives after platform commission, payment processing, refunds and cancellations are deducted from gross sales. It is the number that belongs in a profit calculation, not GMV.

Confusing gross with net is the most common mistake in live selling finance, including in fee-based agency agreements. Platform exports typically report gross and list fees separately; a seller's net is the difference, before shipping costs they absorb and the cost of goods.
