Bid increment

Definition

The bid increment is the minimum amount each new bid must exceed the current one by. Live platforms set increments automatically by price band, for example $1 steps under $20 and $5 steps above.

Increments shape pace: small steps mean many bids and a longer climb, large steps mean fewer, bigger jumps. Platforms raise the increment as the price rises so a $500 card does not crawl up a dollar at a time.
