Live Selling Benchmarks 2026: Show Length, Viewers, Sales per Hour

By the Ghost Agent team · · Window September 28, 2026 to October 28, 2026

Most answers to “how much do Whatnot sellers make” or “when should I go live” are guesses. These are observed numbers from 15,258 live shows and 1,978,586 sold items that Ghost Agent watched over the last 30 days, with the sample size on every table. Quote anything; a link back is the only ask.

Five numbers to remember

  • The median Whatnot show runs about 4 hours, peaks at 97 viewers and clears $5,468. A top-decile show clears $44,968.
  • Whatnot's median item is $27. Fanatics Live's is $74 and eBay Live's is $54. Whatnot sells far more units at far lower prices.
  • 35% of Whatnot items sell between 7pm and midnight Eastern. The 9pm to 11pm block alone is 15% of the day. The 5am to 7am trough is under 1% per hour.
  • Saturday shows have the highest median sales on Whatnot ($6,618) and Monday to Thursday the lowest (about $5,100), yet Tuesday and Wednesday have the most shows.
  • Sales pace falls fast: the first 15 minutes we observe a Whatnot show carry 3.2 times the items of the 105 to 120 minute block, while the median price barely moves. Momentum, not price, is what decays.

Completed shows 10 minutes to 12 hours long, September 28, 2026 to October 28, 2026. Sales figures cover shows where at least one sale was observed and are before fees and refunds.

  • eBay Live: eBay Live events are short and many run with no auction, so most sessions end with no sale.
  • TikTok Live: Sale amounts are not visible in a public TikTok Live stream, so no GMV is reported.

What an item sells for

Every sold item observed in the window, by platform. Placeholder amounts of $99,999 and above are excluded. Whatnot alone produced 1,643,384 observed sales worth about $170.6 million in 30 days.

Sold item price distribution by platform
PlatformItems (N)Median price25th / 75th percentileMean priceBids per item, mean
Whatnot1,643,384$27$10 / $81$1049.6
Fanatics Live273,144$74$28 / $165$196n/a
eBay Live62,058$54$26 / $120$17619.7

The mean is three to four times the median on every platform: a small number of high-ticket cards and pieces carry a large share of the dollars while most units clear for under $100.

When Whatnot items actually sell (US Eastern)

Share of the 1,643,384 Whatnot items sold in the window, by the hour the sale happened. A flat day would be 4.2% per hour.

6pm 5.9%7pm 6.1%8pm 7%9pm 7.6%10pm 7.5%11pm 6.4%

Evening dominates: 7pm to midnight is 35% of the day's items, 9pm and 10pm are the peak hours at about 7.5% each, and the dollar peak is later still (10pm and 11pm carry the most sales value). The trough is 5am to 7am at 0.7% per hour. Shows that start at 6pm Eastern are the single most common start time (527 in the window) and post one of the highest median results of any start hour, about $10,279.

How fast a show loses momentum

Whatnot items sold per 15-minute block, counted from the moment Ghost Agent started observing the show, over the first two hours.

By the second hour a show is moving under a third of the units it moved in its first quarter hour, while the median price holds between $31 and $34. The room empties before the prices do. The caveat: the clock starts when we begin watching, which is usually but not always the start of the show, so treat this as the shape of the curve rather than an exact minute-by-minute schedule.

Methodology

  • Source: shows and sales Ghost Agentobserved on public live streams for its customers and their tracked competitors. Nothing here comes from a platform's own reporting or a seller survey.
  • Window: September 28, 2026 to October 28, 2026 (30 days). Shows: completed sessions lasting 10 minutes to 12 hours, N = 15,258. Items: every observed sale under $99,999 (higher amounts are platform placeholders).
  • Coverage is the shows we watched, which skews toward active, established sellers and toward Whatnot. It is not a census of any platform. Fanatics Live is the smallest sample (698 shows).
  • Medians are used throughout because a few very large shows pull every mean up. Sales are gross observed order value before platform fees, refunds and cancellations.
  • Times are US Eastern. The momentum table counts from first observation of a show, not from its scheduled start.
